Hey Punkin’

Last week I got an email from Two Peas in a Bucket and noticed a link to a free card project that they offer each month. This month’s project had 3 super cute fall/Halloween cards. My absolute favorite from the batch is the pumpkin card. Well, I grabbed a few supplies while I was over at Mom’s house over the weekend and sat down last night to work on the card. Here’s how it went… (please excuse the backdrop… I was crafting in bed last night)

First, I printed the pattern out and cut out each piece, then traced each piece onto my card stock.  I knew I wanted to be able to keep the pattern for future projects as well so I made sure that I did this neatly.  You could also just print the pattern directly onto the card stock.

Next, I drew on the stitching marks around each piece (except for the base part of the card). While doing this, I thought it would be really cool if I were to actually stitch the pieces. I might try that if I make another card though – I just didn’t have the time last night.

I then assembled the pieces of my card. I chose to use pop-dots to give each layer of the pumpkin some dimension. You could also use a regular tape runner, glue dots, or any other adhesive that you prefer. See how the pop dots give that added bonus to the different layers?

After the pieces were all put together, and then placed on the base of the card (you know, the part where it folds open?) I then drew a few more stitching pieces around the exposed portion of the front of the card base – doing it this way instead of just drawing the stitching on the entire front of the base saves some time – as this way you only draw them in the area where they are showing.

And… Ta Da!  Here’s the finished card!

Ok, so yeah… the original instructions had a little banner that ran across the front, etc. By the time I got to this point, I really liked just the plain pumpkin. Plus, I really don’t know what I’m going to use the card for or who it will be sent to – so I really had nothing to write on the little banner anyway. It might get added once the card has a recipient, but for now, it’s a multi-purpose card that I can keep in my stash. :)

That card was really lots of fun and I can already think of a ton of different uses for it.  I’m even thinking about using the template to make a pumpkin to add to the Halloween mini-album that I am planning on doing.  Tons of options for this cool template! :)
